Ngaire Taylor: director

Having always had a little leaning towards the Agatha Christie and Alfred Hitchcock genres, I’ll Be Back Before Midnight has long been one of Ngaire’s favourite pieces of theatre, and she is enjoying bringing it to life again (if that is the right thing to say about a murder/thriller?) for South Otago audiences. "Playwright Peter Colley has given us such a good script to work on, with so many twists and turns," she says, with great enthusiasm.

Brent Gardner

The part of George Willoughby is being played by one of our frequent flyers on the SOTS stage - Brent Gardner.  Being an experienced character actor, Brent has quickly got into the swing of playing George - which he says is because  "It's a bit of a typecasting role really, playing an old farmer who has no sensitivity".  In all seriousness, we are sure audiences will appreciate everything that Brent brings to this role.

Nathan White

"I have always enjoyed taking part in productions and stage shows, starting from when I was at high school.  My most recent time on stage was here at SOTS last year - I loved being part of  'Dreams are free'.  With Midnight, I am  enjoying the new challenge, and doing something a bit different. There certainly are rather a lot of lines to learn when there are only 4 in the cast!  Even so, I'm looking forward to bringing the show to life, and hearing the audience's reactions to what's happening on stage."

Catherine Huggins

"Although I was on stage for SOTS in Dreams Are Free last year, this is the first straight play I have been involved in since high school.  So, you could say I'll Be Back Before Midnight is my acting debut as an adult.  I am really enjoying sinking my teeth into a character that is definitely nothing like me.  Getting to know Laura is a bit of a journey as she is a very interesting person - I wonder what the audiences will think of her?"

Kellie Post

"This production of I'll Be Back Before Midnight has given me the opportunity to reconnect with both my love of acting, and my skills in SFX makeup. I've not played a character like Jan before, so I'm enjoying building her character, and collaborating with the cast and director to bring the play to life...or should I say to death!"

I'll Be Back Before Midnight by Peter Colley

Jan has recently had a nervous breakdown, and her husband Greg, an archeologist, has rented an old farmhouse in the country where she can recover.  The old farmhouse is near an archeological dig where he can continue his studies.   When George, the hilarious farmer they rent the house from, tells stories about a terrible murder that once took place in the farmhouse and the ghost that reputedly stalks the night, Jan's imagination gets fired up.  The situation gets even worse when Laura, Greg's beautiful but manipulative sister arrives.  Soon Jan finds herself tormented by strange sounds in the night, and visions of the vengeful ghost.  Is she having another breakdown?  Is someone trying to drive her mad?  When she tries to defend herself from this apparition, events take an unexpected turn in a night of unimaginable suspense.
